Backa Palanka
Municipality of Backa Palanka is located in the northwestern part of Serbia, in the South Backa District. Based on archaeological findings and written documents it is proved that people continuously lived in this reagon since prehistoric times. The first settlements rose in the XI century, and the name Palanka is mentioned in 1593.
At the end of the sixteenth century the Turks occupied this region, and with Karlovac peace in 1699 definetely left it. Serbs populated it after the Turks went, as well as Germans, Slovaks, and Hungarians.

Sights
- Classicist castle of Lazar Dundjerski from 1832 in Celarevo, characterized by wealth of antique furniture, and original items from the time of Dundjerski family, as well as by a nature park.
- Based on the data from the Museum in Backa Palanka, 33 archeological sites were discovered in the municipality, but are not completely studed. Among them, the most important because of its numbers and good state are the sites from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages.
- Old house in Nestin is a perl of Serbian architecture from the eighteenth centuary.
