Beocin

Beočin municipality is located on the banks of the river Danube, on the northern part of the slopes of Fruska Gora. Although municipality of Beocin territorially belongs to Srem, Beocin administratively belongs to the South Backa District, and is located in the central part of Vojvodina. Beocin is the administrative center of the municipality.


Settlement on the territory of today's Beocin was mentioned for the first time in eighteenth century. In 1869 a cement factory was founded, and at the beginning of the twentieth century a village for workers too. Beocin developed mostly after the Second World Was.

Immediate vicinity of the river Danube and the National Park Fruska Gora is of great importance for Beocin. In terms of traffic. Forests and forest land is the great potential for the municipality of Beocin.Beocin monastery and a church dedicated to the Ascension of Christ was mentioned in Turkish censuses in 1566-1567, as well as monastery Rakovac, that for some time existed in the sixteenth century, and the monastery church built in 1563. They are the only two out of 17 Fruska Gora monasteries located on the territory of Beocin municipalities, that are located in the northern part of Fruska Gora.
