Dimitrovgrad
The municipality of Dimitrovgrad is part of Pirot county. The capital of the municipality is the city of Dimitrovgrad.Traces of early settlements dating back to the old times is witnessed by many archaeological findings. Due to the geographical position of this territory, it was an important point in connecting the east and west in the ancient times.
From the medieval period comes the most beautiful monastery complex in the vicinity. Monastery of St. Jovan Bogoslov (Poganovski monastery), built in the late fourteenth century, in the beautiful valley of the river Jerma.
The settlement bore the name Caribrod before it became Dimitrovgrad, but it was not determined when it was finally and officially named Caribrod. Today’s the name of Dimitrovgrad, Caribrod got in 1951.
Dimitrovgrad is rich in natural beauty: the slopes of Stara Planina, Smilovska lakes, river Jerma in whose valley Zvonacka spa is located.
Churches: Monastery of St. Jovan Bogoslov from the XIV century (Poganovski monastery), and the monasteries of St. Petka and St. Kirik and Julita.

- Museum: with two exibits-archaeological and ethnographic, which include subjects ranging from prehistory through ancient, Byzantine, medieval and Ottoman period, and those that were in use until the first half of the twentieth century.
