Kikinda
Kikinda is situated in the northeastern part of Vojvodina, Banat, only a few kilometers from the Romanian border. This typical Pannonian town surrounded by endless plains has traces of past civilizations from old times. There are material evidence of human life more than 7000 years old in this region.
What makes it special is "Kika" or Kikinda’s mammoth. Fossil remains of giant prehistoric animals that lived on the soil of Europe about half a million years ago were found in 1996. Skeleton of "Kika" is almost entirely preserved, and it is a tourist attraction of great value which lures visitor’s curious glances in the National Museum of Kikinda every day.
According to archaeological findings, there were old settlements in the area of Kikinda, and in 1423, as Hungarian king’s land the place, "Nagy Keken" is mentioned. In the eighteenth century Kikinda was the center of District, and in 1893 it regained the status of free royal town.

Picnic places in Kikinda
There is a special nature reserve near Kikinda, natural monument, and a memorial at Simic’s farms. Also, there are numerous hunting grounds, and Kikinda lake. For recreation, visit the sports center "Lake".
