Koceljeva
Koceljeva municipality is located in Central Serbia, and belongs to Macva district. Center of district is located in Koceljeva. Historical development of settlements of Koceljeva is difficult to observe as isolated events, and separate from other settlements of Koceljevo area. Suitable geographical position of the area made it settled from prehistoric times.
Koceljevo area was subject to constant change. From the earliest times until today, this area is called Tamnava, because the river Tamnava runs through this area with its middle flow. From I to IV century AD Tamnava was part of the Roman Empire.
During the First World War, the great battle (Cer and Kolubara), was conducted in the vicinity of the area, and numerous residents of Tamnava participated. From the village Draginja, Step Stepanovic - Second Army commander, led the Cer battle.
In the period between the First and Second World War, Koceljeva developed more, and its life became more intensive and varied. Koceljeva received status of town in 1924.
The area in the vicinity of Koceljeva has more cultural and historical objects of which the most famous are monastery Kaona, and Church dedicated to St. Emperor Constantine and Empress Helen, built from 1868 to 1870, and rebuilt from 1992. to 2000. This church in was declared a cultural monument in 1997. There are older church buildings in Svileuvi and lower Crniljevo.
Koceljeva Municipality has good conditions for rural and hunting tourism.
