Majdanpek

Majdanpek municipality is located in eastern Serbia, near three rivers: Danube, Pek, and Porec. Belongs to Bor district, with the city of Majdanpek as center. Majdanpek is a typical mining town, and mining in this area was noted even in the distant past.However, today's city name is first mentioned in 1560, in a Turkish document, but in the form of Medan Peck.


Natural wealth:

  • Djerdap National Park, the largest and most important national park in the country which mostly covers the area of Majdanpek with mountain cliffs, rivers, river Danube, exceptional and rare flora, fauna, areas of exceptional value and rarity, and attractive landscapes.
  • Rajkova cave, a very significant speleological, geomorphologic and touristic attraction.

  • Valja Perast, natural stone bridge under the state protection, a natural monument of exeptional value
  • Miroc mountain, and the village of Miroc are regional and ethno ambietal unit with features that distinguish the specifities of relief, landscape, and diversity.

Cultural wealth:

  • Ancient settlement ‘Lepenski vir’, and exeptional archeological site of great importance in changing the image of human activities in the Middle Stone Age.
