Petrovac na Mlavi
The territory of the municipality of Petrovac na Mlavi occupies central part of River Mlava basin between Gornjaska gorge and Branicevo district. The center of the municipality is the city of Petrovac na Mlavi.
Petrovac na Mlavi was built in 1859by order of Prince Milos Obrenovic, and he called after his friend, at the request of villagers of Svini, Duke of Krajina, and later the state advisor Milutin Petrovic Era, the younger brother of Hajduk Veljko Petrovic.
The municipality has numerous benefits, including the untouched nature. Mlava rivers and forests in Podhomolju.
South of Petrovac na Mlavi are the ruins of the city of Grac, and the remains of Roman fortresses in the gorge below the famous mountain Vukan. In the village Melnica is monastery Vitovnica, which first was mentioned in 1557. According to tradition, it was built at the time of King Milutin. Monastery of Annunciation at Zdrelo from the fourteenth century belongs to the Morava School. There are remains of the church that the people cal Metropola near monastery. Nearby is the famous monastery Gornjak.
