Lake Vlasina
Lake Vlasina is located in the southeast of Serbia, in the territory of Surdulica. It is located 350 kilometers from Belgrade. Its altitude is 1213, and extends to 16 square kilometers, making it the highest artificial lake in Serbia. It is surrounded by mountain ranges of Cemernik, Besna Kobila and Vardenika. The so-called floating islands, which occur when water levels raise, are only one of the attractions of Vlasina Lake. The islands are products of decaying peat moss, and peat moss every day floats from shore to shore, changing shape. The lake, whose water color varies from gray-blue along the coast to closed blue in the middle of the lake, with green coastal areas gives special look to the Vlasina landscape.
