Vlasotince
Vlasotinac municipality covers the area of lower and middle basin of the river Vlasina, in southeastern Serbia. Vlasotince is the largest village (town), and also the administrative and economic center of the municipality. Once, Vlasotince was a town. The town was declared in 1878, after the liberation of southern Serbia from the Turks.
Cultural heritage of the Municipality are: archaeological sites, churches, monuments, works of painting, monuments of popular architecture, famous places and cultural institutions. Working cultural facilities of Vlasotince are: Vlasotince Cultural Center, within the Center are the National Museum, the informational press ‘Vlasina’, and National Library ‘Desanka Maksimovic’.
Cultural Event "Summer in Vlasotince" is held every year, and it is organized within the traditional "wine ball" with a variety of entertainment and cultural events.
The most important natural beautes and tourist potentials of the Municipality are: proximity of Vlasina lakes, river Vlasina, artificial lake in the city itself, the immediate vicinity of Suva Planina, Cemernik and Cobanac
Historical sights of Vlasotince are:
- Old bazaar from the second half of the IX century which preserved its original appearance till our days
- Memorial park at the old cemetery
- Memorial park along the coast of Vlasina
- Monuments dedicated to soldiers of Balkan and World wars
- Sacestvije Church of the Holy Spirit built in the first half of the IX century
- Popovic Mill, built at the end of IX century
- Turkey Tower museum of old Serbian prints from the sixteenth to nineteenth century
