1.4. Mlava region - Mlava
Mlava region includes vineyard terrains on the right side of lower basin of river Velika Morana, and along basins of rivers Resava, Mlava, and Pek. It extends from 44° 48' geographic latitude on the north, to 44° 02' geographic latitude on south, with altitudes of 70 m to 400 m.

Altitude of the region gradually decreases going from south east toward north west, and it's lower parts are intersected by rivers. Area covered in vineyard is mostly of altitudes from 100 m to 270 m.
The vineyards cover territory in municipalities of Pozarevac, Veliko Gradiste, Golubac, Kucevo, Malo Crnice, Petrovac, Zabari, Svilajnac and Despotovac.
Predominant types of soil are luvisol and soils in leaching, euteric cambisol, litosol on sand stone, flysch, fluvisol, humofluvisol and pseudogley, as well as on arenosol and sirozem on sand, with other types found less. Vineyards are mostly grown on euteric cambisol chernozem.
Region is characterized by different expositions of the terrain. Vineyards are mostly located on south, south east, and east expositions - on mild slopes of the terrain.
Topographic – relief characteristics of this region are as follows: along the east there are Homoljske planine (952 m) and mountain Beljanica (1339 m). Slopes of these (Karpathian) mountains, as well as hilly terrains that are predominant in the east part, are main characteristic of this region. North and east parts of the region are mostly mildly hilly with flat terrains.
River Danube flows to the north of Mlava region. Danube influence is such that grape ripens earlier in the area near the river. River Velika Morava flows on the west part of the region. Its wide valley is characterized by constant, easy circulation of air. That characteristic enables movement of carbon dioxide and faster process of photosynthesis, along with more efficient process of pollination, which are both positive effect for vine. In north east part of the region, close to river Danube, lake Srebrno jezero and river Pek are located; River Pek flows into Danube south of the lake. In Pozarevac vineyards there is river Mlava, and in Resava vineyards river Resava. Both rivers flow through the valleys and partially characterize landscapes of this region.
Region is rich in forest of Turkey oak, common oak, and other, and in the belt of the alluvial plane of Pomoravlje there are moist and flood forests of red oak, willow, ash, alder, poplar, and other.
