Lajkovac

Lajkovac municipality is located in Central Serbia, and belongs to Kolubara district. Municipal Center is located in Lajkovac. Lajkovac town, as the center of the municipality, was founded on the way of the first train on the route Obrenovac - Valjevo in 1908.


Narrow gauge railway and popular train "Cira" is the most responsible for the rapid development of the town in the district of villages Lajkovac and Rubribreze. Later, Lajkovac became a railway crossing of great importance because lines of Valjevo, Arandjelovac and Mladenovac intersected there.

There are many valuable cultural monuments in the area of the Lajkovac municipality. Among the most important monumets are monastery Bogovadja, and Marko’s Church, Church of St. Nikoa in Stepanja, Church of Archangel Mihail in Jabucje, Memorial Crypt Church Celije (crypt memorial for warriors lost in Kolubara battle), and others.
