Wine growing Serbia

Wine growing Serbia encompasses entire viticulture geographical production area where there are favorable conditions to grow vine. It covers entire territory of the Republic of Serbia of altitude up to 800 m, and areas above this altitude provided they're on the list of regions of higher altitude.

Vine growing Serbia is separated to viticulture areas. Names of the areas can be used as marks of geographical origin, as follows:

1) viticulture region is greater viticulture area within vine growing Serbia marked by excellent ecological factors, selection of recommended varieties, and other necessary factors needed for successful growth of vine.

2) viticulture area is smaller area within region characterized by similar ecological factors, selection of recommended varieties, and other factors, which enables production of grape, wine, and other products of characteristic quality, grape yield, and organoleptic characteristics typical for that region.

3) vineyard is narrow wine growing area within viticulture area characterized by specific ecological factors, selection of recommended varieties and other factors, which enables production of wine, and other products of characteristic quality, grape yield, and organoleptic characteristics typical for that area.

4) locality or spread is the smallest wine growing area within vineyard. It is characterized by homogenous ecological qualities.
