Zajecar
Zajecar is the administrative and cultural center of Timocka Krajina. Zajecar is located in the valley, near the confluence of the Crni and Beli Timok into the river Veliki Timok. The valley itself is located between two mountain ranges, the Balkan and Carpathian. Zajecar is a city with an open heart, good people and rich tradition, that all the people who visit it perceive as their own.
Zajecar is an attractive tourist destination because of the many natural beauties, valuable cultural and historical monuments, healing waters, rivers, caves, areas suitable for field trips, sports, hunting and fishing.
The most famous inhabitants of these regions were Tribali, and Meuse are mentioned too, and in the vallees of Timok Timahi. The first concrete data relate to 818. Zajecar was first mentioned in 1466, in Turkish notebook, related to population of the Vidin’s province. There is little data about the settlement from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century.
