The Kadarka variety of wine excels with its elegance, it is easy, begs to be drunk, refined and the adequate acid is moderately present. Its specific aroma reminds us of the mild taste of fruits, of cherry. Schiller wine may also be made of the Kadarka grape, which is red like poppy flowers, easy to drink and of fruity taste. After a time of consuming Kadarka, one feels the attraction of its taste and the stimulation to drink it again. Subotica-Horgoš sandy region is situated on the northern part of Backa in Vojvodina. It is the narrowest part of a vast sandy area stretching between the rivers Danube on the west and Tisza on the east from Budapest on the north to the northern part of Backa in Vojvodina. After the Turkish army defeated the Austrian army at Kacanik (1689), the Serb Patriarch, Arsenije III Carnojevic, in fear of the Turks’ retaliation, took most of the Serbs to the Pannonia Plain (1690). The Serbs also took along the grapevine of Kadarka. Thus, Kadarka got to the Danube- Kris- Mures-Tisza region from the south of the Balkans. This variety was grown in the DKMT region for a long time and covered 60% of the vineyards in the 19th century. We know from the history of Kadarka, that the renowned composer, Franz Liszt sent a bottle of Kadarka to Pope Pius IX on the day of St. Urban each year. In 2009, the DKMT Euroregion Kadarka Section started a cooperation with the La Rioja wine-region in Spain, where autochthonous dark red varieties are cultivated on an area covering even 74% of the wine-growing area. White Kadarka is made of earlier harvest, while the cherry-like red Kadarka is made of late harvested grapes and shows a balanced sugar – acid ratio, having the taste of tannin. Our wines: Fantasy: a crimson red wine, purple in the rim. Its aroma of fresh, ripe red cherries gives an intensive nose. These delicate aromas are accompanied with the flavour of coffee, caramel and spices. The wine is fully rounded and balanced in the mouth. In the mouth it is elegant and subtle, smooth as a silk. The caramel aroma leaves a long aftertaste. Symphony Rapsody
